Launch of Fair Work Website in Greek

Information about the new Fair Work Act is now available for small business owners who speak Greek.

The new Fair Work for Small Business service (www.fairworkforsmallbusiness.com.au) offers easy to understand videos in Greek, to help small business owners with a Greek background to learn about the new laws in their first language.

The Council of Small Business of Australia (COSBOA), in partnership with Telstra Business and online workplace law experts Workforce Guardian have developed a the new service to help small businesses navigate the new industrial relations laws.

Greek is the fourth language to be released on the small business website and was officially launched today at Minos Café in Torrensville, South Australia.

Federal MPs Amanda Rishworth and Steve Georganas joined with the local Greek community of Adelaide to support the launch of the fourth foreign language for Fair Work for Small Business at Minos Café in Torrensville.

Jaye Radisich, CEO of the Council of Small Business of Australia said the service was designed to be available for small business owners who need help with staffing matters, 24-7.

“The Fair Work for Small Business site is a resource that small business owners and managers can use any time of the day or night to help them get on top of the workplace changes that affect how they employ staff.

“We want to give all small business owners the tools they need to comply with the new laws. For the nearly 30% of small business owners born overseas and who don’t speak English as a first language, it is important to have videos available online in other languages.

Workforce Guardian Managing Director Adrienne Unkovich said the Fair Work for Small Business website has proved valuable with many small business owners and operators making return visits for information on vital changes to employment laws.

"This latest Greek language launch, teamed with Arabic, Cantonese and Mandarin, helps to increase our reach to even more small businesses across Australia. It's important to us to be able to communicate in a familiar language with business owners who may find navigating the complex changes difficult."

“Today the Federal Government is acknowledging the importance of Greek speaking Australians in our society, and to our national economy.” Steve Georganas said.

“My electorate of Hindmarsh has been the centre of the Greek community in Adelaide for 50 years, and there is a strong tradition of small business here whose owners and operators are from Greek speaking backgrounds.”

“The launch of the Fair Work for Small Business website in Greek means that businesses like Minos Café will be fully informed about the new Fair Work Act and can access up to date and relevant advice on matters relating to small business employment and employers.”

This multi-lingual initiative draws support from several key business and community figures including John Kari from The Hellenic Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Vasilis Elovaris, the President from the Greek Orthodox Community of South Australia
